The Bharatiya Janata Party won eight and the Samajwadi Party two of Uttar Pradesh’s ten Rajya Sabha seats, with all candidates elected unopposed, according to DD News.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured eight of the ten Rajya Sabha seats allocated to Uttar Pradesh, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) won the remaining two, with all candidates declared elected unopposed, DD News reported.
No other political party filed nominations for the seats, leading to an uncontested election that underscores the current balance of power in the state legislature.
The newly elected members will serve six‑year terms in the upper house, and their selection was decided by the votes of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly members.
Analysts note that the BJP’s dominance in the unopposed poll reinforces its strong position in the national parliament, while the SP’s two seats maintain its foothold in the state’s representation at the federal level.
