The Bharatiya Janata Party has publicly rebuked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging he purchased shoes worth ₹2.5 lakh and multiple suits costing several lakhs.
In a recent press release, the Bharatiya Janata Party targeted Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, claiming the leader has spent an extravagant amount on personal attire. The party highlighted a purchase of shoes priced at ₹2.5 lakh and additional suits that together run into several lakhs of rupees.
BJP officials said the expenditure is out of step with the modest image the government projects and raises questions about the prudent use of public funds. They urged the CM to provide a detailed account of the purchases and to justify the spending to the people of Punjab.
The criticism comes amid a broader political contest in the state, with the opposition seeking to hold the ruling party accountable for perceived extravagance. No response from the Chief Minister’s office has been reported at the time of writing.
