BJ Watling appointed as New Zealand's new batting coach, replacing Luke Ronchi

New Zealand Cricket announced that former international wicketkeeper BJ Watling will assume the role of batting coach for the national side, succeeding Luke Ronchi. The decision was communicated through the board's official channels, confirming Watling's appointment effective immediately.

Watling, who retired from international cricket after a distinguished career behind the stumps, brings extensive playing experience to the coaching staff. His tenure as a player included several high‑pressure innings, which the board believes will translate into valuable insights for the batting unit.

Luke Ronchi, who had been serving as the batting coach, will step down following the appointment. The board thanked Ronchi for his contributions and indicated that a successor would be identified for any remaining responsibilities.

The move reflects New Zealand's ongoing focus on strengthening its batting department ahead of upcoming international fixtures, with Watling expected to work closely with senior and emerging players to refine techniques and strategies.
