Three men posing as CID officers defrauded a jeweler in Aurangabad, Bihar, of approximately Rs 25 lakh worth of gold by handing him a bag of stones.

A gold theft incident occurred on Maharajganj Road in Aurangabad, Bihar, where a local jeweler was defrauded of high-value ornaments. The victim, Raghunandan Saw, lost approximately Rs 25 lakh worth of gold jewelry in the incident.

According to the report, three individuals arrived at the shop pretending to be CID officers. They exploited the victim's fear of potential legal penalties or fines to coerce him into removing his gold items. The suspects specifically targeted 145 grams of gold ornaments, including chains and rings.

After the victim handed over the gold, the perpetrators did not provide any legitimate exchange. Instead, they handed him a cloth bag filled with stones, leaving the jeweler with a significant financial loss. The incident highlights the modus operandi of fraudsters using official titles to gain trust and extract valuables.

Local authorities are aware of the incident, and the case involves the recovery of the stolen gold and the identification of the three accused individuals who fled the scene after the transaction.
