Bihar Floods Persist: Ganga and Other Rivers Still Above Danger Levels

Patna, Bihar – The monsoon‑driven floods that have inundated large parts of Bihar continue to pose a serious threat. Although the water level in the Ganga and a few other rivers has shown a modest decline, all major watercourses are still flowing above the prescribed danger thresholds.

Reports from district officials indicate that several highways and rural roads are completely submerged, disrupting transport and emergency relief operations. In addition, a temporary diversion structure meant to channel excess water has collapsed in one district, exacerbating local flooding.

Residents trapped in flood‑affected villages describe dire conditions, with many lacking adequate shelter, food and clean water. Relief agencies are mobilising resources, but the persistent high water levels hinder swift distribution of aid.

Authorities have urged people to avoid low‑lying areas and to cooperate with rescue teams. Continuous monitoring of river levels is underway to anticipate any further escalation.
