The state of Bihar is launching a series of solar power initiatives as part of India's push for a solar decade, aiming to boost renewable capacity and attract investment.
Bihar's government announced a coordinated rollout of solar projects this month, targeting an additional 5 gigawatts of installed capacity over the next three years. The plan includes the development of large‑scale solar parks in the districts of Begusarai and Samastipur, as well as incentives for rooftop installations on residential and commercial buildings.
State officials said the initiatives align with the central government's goal of achieving a "solar decade" by 2030, which envisions 100 GW of solar generation nationwide. To encourage private participation, Bihar is offering accelerated clearances, tax rebates and a guaranteed power purchase agreement at competitive rates.
Industry analysts expect the new projects to draw both domestic and foreign investors, noting that Bihar's high solar irradiance and expanding grid infrastructure make it an attractive market for renewable energy developers.
