A husband‑wife team in Bihar has started a noodle manufacturing unit under the Prime Minister's Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, employing a dozen workers.

A husband and wife from Bihar have turned to entrepreneurship by setting up a small-scale noodle manufacturing unit. The venture was launched with financial and technical assistance from the Prime Minister's Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, a government initiative aimed at formalising and scaling micro food processors.

The couple invested the scheme's subsidy and credit facilities to acquire basic processing equipment and a modest production space. Within weeks, the unit began producing packaged noodles that are now being sold in local markets and small retail outlets across the district.

The business currently employs twelve workers, most of whom are from the surrounding villages, providing regular wages and on‑the‑job training. The entrepreneurs say the scheme’s support has not only helped them start the venture but also enabled them to contribute to local employment and income generation.

Local officials praised the initiative as a model for how targeted government schemes can stimulate rural entrepreneurship and create sustainable livelihoods. The couple plans to expand production capacity and explore distribution channels in neighboring districts.
