Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary visited the under‑construction ethanol plant at Chakai in Jamui district and announced that commercial operations are expected to begin by March 2027.

Bihar's Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary conducted an on‑site inspection of the ethanol manufacturing facility being built at Chakai in Jamui district. The visit, part of a broader push to expand the state's bio‑fuel capacity, allowed the CM to assess progress on the project's infrastructure and safety measures.

During the inspection, Chaudhary stated that the plant is on track to commence commercial production by March 2027. The facility is expected to process locally sourced feedstock, primarily sugarcane molasses, thereby creating a new market for farmers and contributing to the state's renewable energy targets.

The CM also highlighted the government's intention to develop Chakai as a steel hub, signalling parallel industrial initiatives in the region. While details of the steel hub plan were not disclosed, officials indicated that preparatory work will begin shortly, aiming to attract investment and generate employment.

The ethanol plant, once operational, will add to Bihar's fuel supply chain, potentially reducing dependence on imported ethanol and supporting the national mandate for higher ethanol blending in gasoline.
