Bihar and Centre to Jointly Tackle Cross‑Border Crime on Nepal Frontier

The state government of Bihar and the Union government have agreed to coordinate efforts against cross‑border crimes along the Nepal border, officials said.
New Delhi and Patna officials met to discuss a joint strategy aimed at curbing illegal activities that spill over from Nepal into Bihar. The talks focused on enhancing intelligence sharing, synchronising police operations, and streamlining legal procedures to address smuggling, human trafficking and other transnational offences.
Both the Centre and the Bihar government will set up a dedicated coordination cell that will monitor border movements and facilitate rapid response to emerging threats. Senior police officers from the state and central agencies are expected to rotate through the cell to ensure seamless communication.
The initiative comes amid rising concerns over the porous nature of the 800‑kilometre border, which has been exploited by criminal networks. Authorities hope that the collaborative framework will deter illicit trade and improve security for communities living along the frontier.
