Bhopal’s Bhadbhada Dam Gate‑6 Opened as Reservoir Nears Full Level

Continuous showers began early Friday across Bhopal, with rain persisting through the morning hours. The downpour raised the water level in the Bhadbhada reservoir to near‑full capacity, prompting close monitoring by city officials. Around 6 p.m., Mayor Malti Rai conducted a puja at the dam site and then opened gate number 6 of the Bhadbhada dam to allow excess water to flow out. The gate’s opening initiated a controlled discharge aimed at preventing overtopping and protecting downstream areas. Authorities indicated that the release will be continued as required while rain is expected to linger later in the evening.
