The accused were found guilty of conspiracy, cheating and corruption linked to the illegal auction of a farmer's 5.5‑acre plot.
The dispute dates back nearly two decades, when the agricultural land was purportedly sold at a public auction for a nominal sum of ₹55,000 – a price far below market value. Investigations revealed that the auction was fabricated, with officials colluding to transfer ownership to private parties in exchange for kickbacks.
In addition to the custodial sentences, the court directed the convicts to pay restitution to the aggrieved farmer and imposed a monetary fine as a deterrent against future malpractice. The judgment underscores the judiciary's resolve to curb land‑related corruption in Madhya Pradesh.
