Bhaderwah in Jammu & Kashmir has set up round-the-clock control rooms to monitor and respond to forest fires, aiming to reduce damage to the region's pine forests.
Bhaderwah, a town in the Pir Panjal range, has seen a rise in forest fire incidents during the dry season, prompting local authorities to act.
In response, the district administration has established dedicated control rooms that operate 24 hours a day, staffed with trained personnel and equipped with satellite feeds and real-time fire-mapping tools.
The new setup is expected to cut response times, allowing firefighting teams to reach affected areas faster and reduce the spread of flames across the pine forests that dominate the region.
"We are committed to protecting our natural heritage," said the district forest officer, noting that the control rooms will also serve as a coordination hub for volunteers and emergency services.
