A resident walking back to his house on Wednesday night in Amha village, Jaitpur, was attacked by a bear and rushed to Shahdol Medical College where his condition is reported as stable but serious.
A man from Amha village in the Jaitpur block of Shahdol district was attacked by a bear on Wednesday night as he was returning home. The incident occurred in a remote area bordering forest land, where wildlife frequently roams.
Emergency services were alerted and the victim was quickly transported to Shahdol Medical College. Doctors at the facility said his vital signs are stable, but he remains in a serious condition and is under close observation.
Local authorities have warned residents of nearby villages about the heightened movement of wild animals, urging them to avoid walking alone after dark and to report any sightings to forest officials. The incident adds to growing concerns over human-wildlife conflict in forest‑adjacent settlements.
Police have launched a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances of the attack and to assess whether any preventive measures can be implemented to reduce future risks.
