The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has begun trial operations of a state‑of‑the‑art waste‑to‑energy plant, aiming to provide a sustainable solution for the city’s dry waste problem.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in Bengaluru has successfully initiated trial operations of a new waste‑to‑energy plant that converts dry municipal waste into electricity using advanced technology.

The plant is part of the city’s effort to address the growing accumulation of dry waste, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional disposal methods.

By generating clean power from waste, the facility is expected to reduce reliance on landfills and contribute to Bengaluru’s renewable energy targets.

Officials said the pilot will be closely monitored to assess performance before scaling up to full commercial operation.
