The Central Cyber Police Station in Jaipur has detained Barmer native Tagaram for allegedly defrauding an elderly couple of more than two crore rupees through a cyber scam.

Jaipur police, operating through the Central Cyber Police Station, have taken into custody a Barmer resident identified as Tagaram. Investigations reveal that he orchestrated a sophisticated online fraud that siphoned over ₹2 crore from an elderly couple residing in the city. The victims reported the loss after noticing unauthorized transactions linked to a series of fake digital communications.

According to officials, the suspect employed phishing techniques and false investment schemes to lure the couple into transferring funds. Cyber forensic analysis traced the digital footprints back to the accused, leading to his arrest in a coordinated operation by the cyber crime unit.

The Central Cyber Police Station has filed a formal charge sheet and is pursuing further legal action. The case underscores the rising threat of cyber fraud targeting senior citizens in Rajasthan and highlights the need for heightened awareness and robust digital security measures.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant against unsolicited online offers and to verify the authenticity of any financial solicitations before proceeding.
