Baltej Pannu Declares Akali Dal a ‘Thing of the Past’, Says Revival Impossible

Patiala – In a candid interview, political analyst Baltej Pannu remarked that the Shiromani Akali Dal (Akali Dal) has become a relic of the past, comparing its prospects to those of extinct dinosaurs. He emphasized that the party’s revival is virtually impossible in the current political climate.
Pannu’s statement reflects a growing perception among some commentators that the once‑dominant regional party has lost its electoral relevance and organizational strength. He did not cite specific data but highlighted the party’s inability to adapt to evolving voter expectations.
The comment adds to ongoing debates about the future of regional parties in Punjab, with observers watching closely to see whether Akali Dal can reinvent itself or remain sidelined in state politics.
