The Balaghat district consumer commission directed Life Insurance Corporation to release a ₹2 lakh insurance settlement to Sudha Chauhan, with 6% annual interest from Feb 9 2026 and an additional ₹10,000 compensation.
The Balaghat district consumer commission has ruled that Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) must pay a ₹2 lakh insurance claim to policyholder Sudha Chauhan. The order also mandates that the amount accrue interest at an annual rate of six percent, calculated from 9 February 2026 until the payment is made.
Chauhan had approached the commission after alleging that LIC had not honoured her insurance entitlement. After reviewing the submissions, the commission found in her favour and issued the directive.
In addition to the principal claim, the commission ordered LIC to pay a compensation of ₹10,000 to the claimant. The interest component is intended to compensate for the delay in disbursement.
LIC is now required to comply with the order and release the total amount, including interest and compensation, to Sudha Chauhan at the earliest possible date.
