Around 200 students of Dhanvantari Ayurvedic College in Ujjain locked the college and its attached hospital’s main gate to press for a higher stipend, disrupting patient care.
A protest by students of Dhanvantari Ayurvedic College in Ujjain intensified on Monday after a week‑long sit‑in demanding a higher stipend. Approximately two hundred students participated, citing financial strain and calling for an increase in the monthly allowance provided to them.
The demonstrators secured the main entrance of the college and the adjoining hospital with a heavy lock, effectively blocking entry for patients, visitors and hospital staff. Reports indicate that several out‑patients and in‑patients faced delays in receiving treatment, while hospital personnel struggled to perform routine duties.
College officials have not yet issued a formal response, and local authorities are monitoring the situation. The protest remains peaceful, but the disruption to healthcare services has raised concerns among the community and prompted calls for a swift resolution.
