Avengers Endgame: Encore Surpasses Avatar, Reaches $2.9 B Global Gross

Marvel’s Avengers Endgame: Encore has crossed the $2.9 billion mark worldwide, overtaking James Cameron’s Avatar as the highest‑grossing film of all time. The re‑release, which began in late 2023, has seen a steady stream of audiences returning to theaters for the blockbuster’s final chapter. The milestone places the film among a very short list of movies that have surpassed the $2.9 billion threshold, joining Avatar and Disney’s The Lion King. Industry analysts note that the success underscores the enduring appeal of the Marvel franchise and the effectiveness of strategic re‑releases in boosting box‑office revenue. The achievement also highlights the growing trend of streaming platforms partnering with theatrical releases to maximize audience reach.
