The Gulmarg cable‑car system has been halted for the day following an official order, affecting tourists and local commuters.
The tourism department in Jammu and Kashmir announced that the Gulmarg Gondola, a major cable‑car attraction, will not operate today. The suspension was issued by the authorities without specifying a cause, and the decision applies to all scheduled trips for the day.
Visitors who had booked rides were advised to seek refunds or reschedule their journeys. Local businesses that depend on tourist footfall are likely to feel the impact of the abrupt halt.
The Gulmarg Gondola, which connects the town to the higher ski slopes, is a key draw for both domestic and international travelers. Officials said they will assess the situation and announce when services can resume.
No further details were released at the time of reporting, and the department urged the public to stay updated through official channels.
