Pakistani singer Atif Aslam remarked that Coke Studio in Pakistan surpasses its Indian counterpart and criticised Indian music as being overly commercialised.
Pakistani vocalist Atif Aslam, known for his contributions to film and pop music, compared the two versions of Coke Studio, the celebrated music television series produced in Pakistan and India.
In statements reported by media, Aslam said Pakistan’s Coke Studio offers higher artistic quality than the Indian edition, which he labelled “commercialised”. He suggested the Indian music industry favours marketability over creativity.
The remarks arrive amid ongoing discussions about the cross‑border influence of South Asian music, with both Coke Studio franchises enjoying large viewership. Aslam did not elaborate further or propose any collaboration.
