Assam police and the Railway Police Force confiscated more than 217 kg of illegal drugs in two separate raids, detaining four suspects.
Law enforcement agencies in Assam carried out coordinated operations that resulted in the seizure of over 217 kilograms of narcotics. The Assam Police intercepted a large consignment of illegal substances, while the Railway Police Force (RPF) conducted a parallel raid that added to the total haul.
Both agencies reported that the drugs were hidden in transport vehicles moving through the state, raising concerns about trafficking routes that exploit Assam's strategic location. The combined effort underscores a heightened focus on curbing drug smuggling in the northeastern region.
Four individuals were taken into custody during the operations, and investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and identify additional accomplices. Authorities have not disclosed the exact types of narcotics seized, but the volume indicates a significant interdiction effort.
The seizures come amid a broader national crackdown on drug trafficking, with state police collaborating closely with central agencies to dismantle networks that use rail and road corridors for distribution. Officials said further raids are planned to prevent similar shipments from reaching markets across the country.
