Minister Pijush Hazarika inspected ongoing farm and irrigation schemes in Goalpara district and announced that market infrastructure will be completed by January 2027.

Assam's agriculture minister, Pijush Hazarika, visited Goalpara district on Thursday to assess the progress of several farm and irrigation initiatives launched under the state government. The review covered newly constructed canals, water‑saving technologies and pilot farms aimed at boosting productivity for smallholders.

During the site visit, Hazarika noted that while many projects are on track, some require accelerated funding and technical support. He urged local officials to streamline procurement and to involve farmer cooperatives in the implementation process.

The minister also set a firm deadline of January 2027 for the completion of a dedicated agricultural market complex in Goalpara, which is intended to provide storage, processing and direct sales facilities for regional produce. The timeline is part of the broader goal to reduce post‑harvest losses and improve farmer incomes.

State officials said they will monitor progress through quarterly reports and will allocate additional resources if needed to meet the January 2027 target.
