Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that the state will require over Rs 1,000 crore to rehabilitate those affected by the recent floods.
Assam’s recent monsoon‑driven floods have left thousands displaced and infrastructure severely damaged. In a statement to the media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the scale of the crisis, estimating that the state will need more than Rs 1,000 crore to support rehabilitation efforts.
The CM emphasized that the funds would cover housing reconstruction, restoration of public utilities, and livelihood support for affected families. He also urged central government agencies to expedite the release of relief money.
The Assam government has already mobilised emergency resources, but the CM warned that the long‑term recovery will demand sustained financial commitment.
Officials are prioritising the most severely hit districts, where rivers have overflowed and roads have been washed away. The state’s disaster management plan will be activated to coordinate relief and reconstruction.
