Assam's chief minister presented 51 newly procured motorbikes to the state police, aiming to boost mobility and response capabilities.

On a ceremony in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over fifty‑one motorbikes to the state police. The vehicles are expected to enhance patrolling efficiency and enable faster response in remote and difficult terrain.
The bikes were acquired under the government's recent police modernisation programme, with funding allocated by the state budget. Their addition expands a fleet that previously relied on a limited number of four‑wheel vehicles.
Police officials said the new two‑wheelers will support traffic management, crime prevention and emergency operations, particularly in hilly and border areas where mobility is crucial. The chief minister highlighted the administration's commitment to strengthening law‑enforcement capabilities.
Senior police officers and transport department representatives attended the handover, though details on the cost or technical specifications of the motorcycles were not disclosed.
