Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Criticises Congress Leader Mallikarjun Kharge Over PM Modi

Assam’s chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, took to the media to sharply criticize Congress veteran Mallikarjun Kharge over remarks made about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sarma described Kharge’s statements as unfounded and warned that such criticism could undermine national unity. The exchange highlights the ongoing political friction between the ruling BJP in Assam and the opposition Congress at the national level. No further comments were recorded from Kharge at the time of reporting.

The incident was reported by Asianet Newsable, which noted the tension between the two leaders but provided no details of the specific statements. Analysts suggest that the clash reflects broader partisan debates ahead of upcoming electoral contests.

Both leaders remain key figures in their respective parties, with Sarma steering Assam’s administration and Kharge serving as a senior Congress figure at the centre.
