ASI shot in head in Amritsar while returning from duty, drives himself to police station

An Assistant Sub‑Inspector was shot in the head by an unknown assailant in Amritsar’s Ajanaala police area and, despite his injuries, rode his motorcycle to the nearest police station.
Amritsar police reported that an Assistant Sub‑Inspector (ASI) was attacked while returning from duty in the Ajanaala police jurisdiction. According to the statement, an unidentified individual opened fire, striking the officer in the head.
Despite the serious head wound, the ASI managed to mount his motorcycle and ride to the nearest police station, where he was admitted for emergency treatment. Bystanders and fellow officers provided first‑aid before he reached the station.
