Ash Aarti at Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple Dresses Baba Mahakal in Silver Crown and Sacred Garlands

On Sunday morning, priests performed the ash aarti at Mahakaleshwar Temple, offering Panchamrit abhishek and adorning the idol of Baba Mahakal with a silver crown, mund mala, tripund and rudraksha beads.
Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple hosted the traditional ash aarti on Sunday morning, a ritual that marks the beginning of the daily worship schedule. Priests gathered at the sanctum sanctorum and performed the ceremonial lighting of ash, followed by a full Panchamrit (five‑nectar) abhishek of the Baba Mahakal idol.
The deity was then dressed in a specially crafted silver crown, a string of rudraksha beads, a mund (sacred thread) mala, and a tripund (three horizontal ash marks) on the forehead, enhancing the visual splendour of the idol for the congregants.
Devotees lined the temple precincts to witness the elaborate adornment, chanting hymns and offering prayers for health and prosperity. The ritual underscores the temple’s role as a major pilgrimage centre in Madhya Pradesh, drawing worshippers from across the state.
Such elaborate presentations are customary during major festivals and special aartis, reinforcing the spiritual atmosphere and the reverence accorded to Baba Mahakal among the faithful.
