The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh called for coordinated efforts to increase coffee cultivation in the state, emphasizing its potential for farmers.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu appealed to the agricultural community and policymakers to work together in scaling up coffee cultivation across the state. He highlighted coffee as a high‑value crop that can diversify farm incomes and tap into the region's suitable climate.
The minister urged the state government, research institutions, and private sector to provide technical assistance, quality planting material, and market linkages to farmers willing to adopt coffee. He said that coordinated action could unlock new livelihood opportunities in remote hill areas.
Khandu's call comes as the state seeks to broaden its agricultural base beyond traditional staples, aiming to position Arunachal Pradesh as a notable coffee‑producing region in the northeast.
Stakeholders are expected to convene in the coming weeks to outline concrete steps, including training programs and financial support mechanisms, to translate the chief minister's vision into actionable plans.
