Arunachal Pradesh child rights panel calls for probe into abusive videos

The child rights panel, set up under Arunachal Pradesh's child welfare framework, has submitted a formal request to state authorities to launch an inquiry into recently circulated videos that appear to show the sexual abuse of children. The panel said the material, which has been shared on social media platforms, poses a grave threat to the safety and psychological well‑being of minors in the state.

Panel members urged the police and the state's cyber‑crime cell to identify the perpetrators, trace the source of the footage and ensure its swift removal from the internet. They also called for immediate support services for any child victim identified through the investigation.

State officials responded that they will coordinate with the cyber‑crime cell, the National Crime Records Bureau and relevant online platforms to expedite the probe. The government pledged to prioritize the case and to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to prevent similar incidents.

The panel's appeal reflects a broader national concern over the rise of online child sexual abuse material, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of existing laws and enhanced protective measures for children across India.
