Arunachal Pradesh police have lodged a First Information Report against Sikkim rapper UNB, accusing him of publishing objectionable content that allegedly offended local sensibilities.

The police department of Arunachal Pradesh has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the Sikkim-based rapper UNB, alleging that his recent releases contain objectionable content that has offended local sensibilities. The FIR, registered on 15 September 2024, cites specific lyrics that are deemed to violate community standards and potentially incite unrest.

According to the complaint, the rapper’s tracks were circulated widely on social media platforms and were reported by several residents of the state for containing profanity and disrespectful references. The police claim that the content could disrupt public order and therefore warrants legal action.

UNB’s management has yet to issue a formal statement. The case is now under investigation, and the authorities have requested the rapper to appear before the local court for a preliminary hearing. The incident has sparked debate among artists and civil society groups about freedom of expression and the limits of artistic content in India.
