Arunachal CM Pema Khandu flags strong market prospects for state’s farm and fishery produce

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the state’s agricultural and fisheries output is poised to find sizable demand in domestic and export markets.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted the commercial potential of Arunachal Pradesh’s farm and fisheries produce during a recent press briefing. He noted that the state’s varied agro‑climatic zones enable the cultivation of high‑value crops and the rearing of fish species that are increasingly sought after by buyers across India.
Khandu pointed to growing interest from traders in neighboring states and from export houses looking for organic and niche products. He said that the government is facilitating linkages with market players, improving cold‑chain infrastructure, and simplifying logistics to ensure that produce reaches buyers in optimal condition.
The administration has already launched schemes to provide credit, quality seeds, and modern aquaculture equipment to farmers and fishers. By aligning these support measures with market demand, the CM expects a boost in farmer incomes and a reduction in the region’s reliance on imports of similar commodities.
If the projected demand materialises, Arunachal Pradesh could emerge as a notable supplier of specialty vegetables, spices, and freshwater fish, contributing to the state’s broader economic diversification goals.
