The Arunachal Pradesh Anti‑Corruption Bureau has taken into custody the Officer‑in‑Charge of Chongkham police station on suspicion of receiving a bribe of ₹65,000.
The Anti‑Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Arunachal Pradesh announced that it has arrested the Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) of the Chongkham police station. The arrest follows an investigation that uncovered evidence suggesting the officer accepted a cash bribe of ₹65,000 in exchange for favouring a private party.
According to the ACB, the alleged payment was made during a routine enquiry into a local land dispute, where the OC is said to have used his authority to influence the outcome. The bureau has seized the cash amount and is conducting a forensic audit of the officer’s bank records to determine the extent of the alleged misconduct.
The arrested officer has been produced before the district magistrate and is currently in judicial custody pending further inquiry. The ACB has reiterated its commitment to rooting out corruption within the police force and has urged any other officials with knowledge of similar practices to come forward.
No other individuals have been named in connection with the case at this stage, and the investigation remains ongoing.
