The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has decided to lift the Model Code of Conduct in urban areas, easing campaign restrictions for candidates in cities.

The Model Code of Conduct (MCOC) issued by the Election Commission of India sets guidelines for political parties and candidates during elections to ensure free and fair campaigning.
On 15 October 2023, the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission announced that it would lift the MCOC in all urban areas of the state, thereby removing restrictions that had been applied to campaign activities in municipal regions.
The decision applies to all upcoming elections scheduled in Andhra Pradesh and will take effect from the date of the announcement.
By easing these constraints, the SEC aims to facilitate smoother campaigning in cities while maintaining overall electoral integrity.
