AP Local Body Polls to Use Old Voter Rolls if New Rolls Not Ready

The state has announced that local body elections will be conducted using the current voter rolls if the State Election Commission does not complete the new rolls before the election date. This decision follows concerns over the delay in updating the electoral rolls for municipalities and panchayats. Officials say the move will prevent a halt in the electoral process and ensure voters can participate on the scheduled day. The election commission will monitor the situation closely and may adjust the schedule if necessary. The decision is expected to be implemented from the next local body election cycle.
