The Andhra Pradesh government has requested an immediate allocation of ₹4,500 crore to address damages caused by twin cyclones that struck the state earlier this week.
Twin cyclones that made landfall in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh earlier this week caused widespread flooding and damage to infrastructure. The storms, named Cyclone X and Cyclone Y, battered the eastern coastline, leaving thousands of residents displaced and many villages without power. In response, the state government has formally requested ₹4,500 crore in immediate relief funds from the central government. The requested amount is earmarked for emergency assistance, restoration of basic services, and reconstruction of damaged homes and public facilities. The request is currently under review, and officials are awaiting approval to mobilise the necessary resources.
