The state government of Andhra Pradesh issued a notification that private medical colleges will raise their tuition fees. Undergraduate programmes, specifically MBBS and BDS, will see a 10 percent increase, while postgraduate medical courses will be subject to a 15 percent hike.
The fee revision applies only to privately run institutions; government‑run colleges remain unaffected. The decision was taken as part of the state’s periodic review of fee structures for professional courses.
Student bodies have expressed concern over the higher cost, warning that the increase could strain families already facing steep education expenses. The government, however, said the adjustment aligns with rising operational costs and aims to maintain quality standards in private medical education.
