The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has shifted the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections to November 5, while municipal polls will still be held on November 1 despite an approaching cyclone.
The State Election Commission of Andhra Pradesh announced that the elections for Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) have been postponed to November 5. The decision was taken to allow additional time for administrative preparations and to mitigate any disruption that the forecasted cyclone could cause.
Despite the weather warning, the commission confirmed that the civic elections scheduled for November 1 will proceed as planned. Officials said that necessary safety measures and contingency plans are being put in place to protect voters and poll staff.
The rescheduling aims to ensure a smooth electoral process while balancing public safety concerns. Voter awareness campaigns are expected to be intensified ahead of the new dates to maintain turnout levels.
