The Andhra Pradesh government released a detailed plan to maintain uninterrupted, high‑quality electricity across the state as the El Niño phenomenon threatens water resources.
The Andhra Pradesh administration unveiled a comprehensive roadmap aimed at delivering continuous, quality power to households, industries and agricultural users throughout the state. The initiative comes as the El Niño weather pattern is expected to curtail monsoon rainfall, putting pressure on existing hydro‑electric resources.
Key components of the plan include expanding generation capacity through new thermal and renewable projects, modernising transmission and distribution networks, and instituting demand‑side management programmes. The state will also create contingency reserves and strengthen grid stability mechanisms to offset any shortfalls.
The roadmap calls for close coordination with the central Ministry of Power and relevant agencies, with a monitoring framework that tracks performance on a monthly basis. Officials said the implementation phase will commence immediately, with periodic reviews to adjust measures as weather forecasts evolve.
