The Andhra Pradesh government has set a target of attracting Rs 50,000 crore of investment to the Orvakal industrial hub, forecasting the creation of around 45,000 jobs.
The state government of Andhra Pradesh announced a strategic push to bring in Rs 50,000 crore of capital into the Orvakal industrial hub, a project that is expected to generate roughly 45,000 employment opportunities. The initiative is part of the administration’s broader effort to position the state as a manufacturing and export hub in southern India.
Officials said the investment target will be met through a mix of domestic and foreign direct investment, with priority given to sectors such as electronics, automotive components, and renewable‑energy equipment. The projected jobs span both skilled and semi‑skilled categories, aiming to boost local livelihoods and curb out‑migration.
The Orvakal site, located in the Kurnool district, has already seen preliminary infrastructure development, including road links, power supply upgrades, and a dedicated logistics zone. The government expects the first wave of projects to commence within the next twelve months, with full operational capacity anticipated by 2028. If achieved, the plan could raise the state’s industrial output by several percentage points and reinforce its competitive edge.
State officials have also pledged incentives such as tax rebates, streamlined clearances, and skill‑development programmes to attract investors. The projected employment figure, if realized, would make the Orvakal hub one of the largest job‑creating projects in the region in recent years.
