Amritsar police conducted a major operation, detaining 11 suspects linked to a weapons and drug smuggling network.
Amritsar police carried out a large-scale operation on Tuesday, targeting a network involved in weapons and drug smuggling. The raid took place at a warehouse in the outskirts of the city, where authorities had received intelligence about illicit activities.
Investigators say the suspects were part of a coordinated smuggling ring that trafficked firearms and narcotics across state borders. The operation was coordinated by the Punjab Police's Anti-Narcotics Squad in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Eleven individuals were apprehended during the raid. Police allege that the arrested persons held various roles, from logistics coordinators to direct smugglers, and were responsible for moving contraband into the region.
The arrested suspects are now in custody and are expected to face charges under the Arms Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police officials have stated that the investigation will continue to uncover the full extent of the network.
