Home Minister Amit Shah said the era of violent Naxalism has ended and the nation must now concentrate on healing the wounds left by the insurgency.
New Delhi – In a statement to the media, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that the phase of violent Naxal activity has effectively come to an end. He emphasized that the security establishment’s sustained operations, coupled with development initiatives, have weakened the insurgency’s capacity to launch large‑scale attacks.
Shah said the immediate priority now is to address the human and social damage caused by decades of conflict in the affected regions. He urged both central and state governments to accelerate rehabilitation programmes, provide medical care to victims, and support the reintegration of former militants willing to lay down arms.
The minister’s remarks come amid reports of reduced Naxal incidents across several states, including Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha, where security forces have reported fewer encounters in recent months. While acknowledging the progress, Shah cautioned that vigilance must continue to prevent any resurgence of violence.
He concluded by calling for a collaborative effort among political leaders, civil society and local communities to foster lasting peace and development in the former conflict zones.
