Alcohol trader assaults guard with iron rod in Muzaffarpur, leg fracture; suspect flees

During a police operation in Sarhanchia village, a liquor trader struck watchman Mohammad Jainul with an iron rod, breaking his leg, and then fled.
In the Orai police‑station area of Muzaffarpur district, officials conducting a raid on illegal liquor activities entered the village of Sarhanchia. The operation encountered a man identified as a liquor trader who was under investigation for illicit alcohol trade.
During the encounter, the trader allegedly seized an iron rod and struck the on‑duty watchman, Mohammad Jainul. The blow caused a fracture in the guard’s leg, rendering him unable to walk without assistance.
Jainul was immediately taken to a nearby medical facility where doctors confirmed a broken bone in his leg. Police reported that the assailant fled the scene before they could detain him and is currently at large.
Investigators have launched a manhunt and are reviewing CCTV footage and eyewitness statements to locate the suspect and file charges under assault and illegal liquor trade statutes.
