Former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has stepped down from contesting a third Rajya Sabha seat in the state, ending his recent bid for the upper house.
Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav announced that he would no longer pursue a third Rajya Sabha seat in the state.
The decision came after a brief period of speculation about his candidacy, during which party leaders and political analysts weighed the potential impact on the party’s standing in the upper house.
Yadav’s withdrawal means the party will need to identify an alternative candidate to contest the seat in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
The move is seen as a strategic decision to avoid internal party friction and to focus on broader electoral objectives.
No official statement has yet clarified the reasons behind the decision, but it marks a significant shift in the party’s legislative strategy.
