Senior politician Akhilesh Yadav highlighted persistent banking sector issues, demanding answers from the central government in his ‘Twelve Years, 12 Questions’ campaign.
Akhilesh Yadav, a senior leader of the Samajwadi Party, launched a series of questions aimed at the Union government concerning ongoing challenges in India's banking sector. The initiative, titled “Twelve Years, 12 Questions”, marks his first public demand on the issue after a twelve‑year gap.
He cited recurring problems such as non‑performing assets, delayed loan disbursements, and the slowdown in credit flow to small businesses and farmers. Yadav argued that despite several policy measures, the sector’s health remains fragile, affecting economic growth.
The leader urged the Ministry of Finance and the RBI to provide a detailed response within a stipulated timeframe, calling for greater transparency and swift corrective action. He warned that continued neglect could erode public confidence in the banking system.
The remarks were made at a press conference in New Delhi, where Yadav said the questions would be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office and relevant ministries for immediate consideration.
