An Air India flight en route from Frankfurt to Delhi was redirected to Jaipur following a hijacking alert, prompting a probe by aviation authorities.
An Air India aircraft scheduled to fly from Frankfurt to Delhi was instructed to land at Jaipur Airport on Thursday after a hijacking alert was raised mid‑flight. The diversion was carried out as a precautionary measure while security agencies assessed the situation.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation have opened an investigation to determine the source of the alert and whether any breach of security occurred. Officials said the flight was monitored closely and no evidence of an actual hijack attempt was found.
All passengers were safely disembarked in Jaipur and provided with accommodation and meals while alternative arrangements to Delhi were being made. The airline confirmed that the aircraft will resume its scheduled service once clearance is obtained from the investigating authorities.
Air India has assured travelers that safety protocols remain stringent and that it is cooperating fully with the probe. The incident underscores the heightened vigilance of Indian aviation security in response to potential threats.
