The new Y-shaped rail link in Ahmedabad has been finished, promising a reduction of up to 45 minutes on key routes.
The Indian Railways has inaugurated the Ahmedabad Y-Connectivity Project, a new rail link that connects the city’s main stations in a Y-shaped configuration.
The 8.5-kilometre stretch links the Ahmedabad Junction, Sabarmati and Gandhinagar stations, allowing trains to bypass congested sections and reduce travel time by up to 45 minutes.
Transport officials say the project will ease commuter traffic and improve freight movement across the region, boosting economic activity in Gujarat.
A ribbon‑cutting ceremony was held with the Chief Minister of Gujarat and railway officials, who highlighted the project as a milestone in the state’s rail infrastructure development.
