Actor Vijay has tabled a resolution to adopt a Tamil anthem, receiving backing from both DMK and AIADMK parties.
Actor Vijay has formally introduced a resolution in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly to adopt a Tamil anthem, a move that has attracted the support of the two major political parties in the state.
The resolution, which Vijay presented during a public event, calls for the creation of a national anthem that reflects Tamil culture and heritage. It proposes that the anthem be used in schools, public institutions, and official ceremonies.
Both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) have publicly endorsed the proposal, signaling a rare bipartisan agreement on a cultural initiative.
Political analysts note that the resolution could strengthen Tamil identity while also fostering unity across party lines. The next step will be to debate the resolution in the assembly and seek a formal vote.
Vijay, known for his influence in the Tamil film industry, has previously used his platform to promote regional causes, and this move is seen as a continuation of his engagement with cultural affairs.
