The All Assam Students’ Union has prolonged the Bhupen Hazarika centenary observance to November 5 and outlined additional cultural programmes.
The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) announced that the observance of legendary singer‑composer Bhupen Hazarika’s 100‑year birth anniversary will now continue until 5 November. The extension provides room for additional cultural programmes that could not be accommodated in the original schedule.
AASU officials said a series of concerts, seminars and exhibitions will be organised across Assam to showcase Hazarika’s contributions to music, literature and social activism. The events are expected to feature performances by noted Assamese artists and discussions by scholars familiar with his work.
Cultural bodies and fans have welcomed the decision, viewing the extended timeline as an opportunity for deeper public engagement with Hazarika’s legacy ahead of the final day of the centenary celebrations.
