AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj filed a complaint against the Shri Keshav Ramlila Committee after a cockroach effigy was burned during the annual Ramlila in Delhi, claiming the act hurt religious sentiments.

The annual Ramlila in Delhi saw an unusual act when a cockroach effigy was set on fire alongside traditional figures such as Ravan, Kumbhakaran and Meghnad. The incident took place during a performance organized by the Shri Keshav Ramlila Committee.

Saurabh Bharadwaj, the president of AAP Delhi, lodged a formal complaint with the police, arguing that burning the effigy violated the law on hurting religious sentiments. He demanded that an FIR be registered against the organisers of the event.

Delhi minister Kapil Mishra, who attended the Ramlila, responded to the complaint with a sarcastic remark, suggesting that the act was a form of artistic expression rather than a deliberate insult.

The police have yet to announce whether an FIR will be filed, but the incident has sparked debate over the boundaries of cultural performance and the protection of religious feelings in India.
